DEMOLITION IN CCP

Vendors and bike operators underwent a violent demolition in Plaza Ullalim, Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex, Pasay City, last January 29. Making a living by renting out bicycles in the CCP Complex for the last 30 years, these urban poor dwellers cry foul over the government's failure to honor their agreement with the CCP management. The order for demolition, carried out by over 500 members of the Metro Manila Development Authority, came straight from Malacanang. The displaced vendors and bike operators are camped out in front of Star City.
